Ready for some Spitzensparken?
So currently I’m testing several different approaches on generating the HV for the scope project. This is my favourite for it’s simplicity. The schematic is Here:

Be sure to use a very good cap, that can withstand the hight currents when discharging. The parts are not critical, any transistor, that can handle the power will do and the resistor values are just for orientation.
Have fun watching!
The whole arrangement will make a top voltage of about 400 V with two secodaries at 24 V, you can go muuuuuuuch higher with lower values and resistor values. In my very first tesla-coil almost the same arrangement makes somewhat 4 KV.
Here came my inspiration from.
See you then!

How’d you accomplish a constant output current rating of say, 50 mA. Simply using fast recovery diodes and a tuned setup so the self resonation works at a higher efficiency ?
…
More sparks are defently neccesary, although maybe not in the final oscilloscope
yeah better diodes are on my next orders list, I just could not find any fitting ones in my junkbox. Just with calculations(no losses) with this transformer my output should get up to ~35 mA. (22V 380 mA on the sec, 230 on the prim)
yeah, more sparcs ]:>
u can find fast rectifers in smp pc psu are the best source of parts
also if u take a pc psu and remake it backwards u have 12v in 250v ish out prob get 250~600v if lucky
but best is to just use old tv the flyback runs 30kv 600v 300v 100v 6v somthink like that
and its driver transformer runs about 400v aswell tvs are the best ht power sources
yeah gotta harvest some of those smpu’s :D
I actually have built a push-pull flyback converter from a b/w tv, works like a charm (Episode #17)
